To configure Martial Class™ to use serial scanners for automated attendance, the scanner must first be defined in the Options Dialog, then you need to configure the Scanning Window in the Class Time Editor Window.
Select the Use checkbox to use the named device to record attendance for this class automatically (that is, for this particular class on this particular schedule).
The Min Before and Duration values determine the Scanning Window for the scanner to operate in this mode. Defined as the Minutes before the start of the scheduled class that the scanner should be switched to recording attendance for this class, and the Duration (also in minutes) that the scanner should record for this class.
In the example above , the "Door Swipe" scanner has been configured to start 15 minutes before the scheduled start time and end 5 minutes after the start of class (Duration = 20 minutes).
It would not make sense to have the same scanner attempting to record for two different classes at the same time, so Martial Class™ does not allow you to define scanning windows that overlap, and will display an error if you do.
