Full Contact Quickstart Guide
Top  Previous  Next

By default, Full Contact™ is configured to operate on the same PC as Martial Class™, and is configured to start up in an ordinary window.

All configuration changes relevant to startup, playing sounds and operating modes are handled within Full Contact™. If you need to alter the list of attached scanners and the classes to which they are assigned, you need to do this from within the Martial Class™ application.

Starting Full Contact

quickstart

Depending on the options selected when installing Full Contact™, you will need to run the application either from the quickstart icon on your task bar, or from your Start->Programs menu.
:

If you have a firewall solution installed on your PC, when you start Full Contact™ for the first time, your firewall software may ask you to configure the firewall to allow Full Contact™ to accept connections:

firewallpopup

By default, Full Contact™ listens for connections on port 9069 (this port can be changed, see the options dialog for more information). This connection in REQUIRED for correct operation so you need to either allow all connections to this program, or, if you are so inclined, you may allow traffic only on the port you nominate (see the product literature for your firewalling solution to learn how to enable ports).

Configuring Full Contact™

Configuration changes are handled by using the options dialog accessable from the system tray icon popup menu:

traymenu

By default, Full Contact™ is configured to:

·Listen on port 9069
·Use the Martial Class data file on the local machine
·Display details of the item scanned for 15 seconds (15,000 milliseconds)
·Display the amount a student currently owes
·Play an "accept" sound when an item is scanned and found
·Play a "reject" sound if a scanned item is unknown
·Open by default in a normal window when the application is started, and
·Not require any password to change settings or exit kiosk mode

To learn about these options and their meaning or effect, please see the section The Full Contact Options Dialog.

Attaching and Configuring Scanners

Once you have installed, started up and configured basic settings in Full Contact™, you then need to attach and configure each scanner. The final steps, that include configuring Martial Class™ to recognize the scanners and assigning scanners to classes, are carried out in the Martial Class™ program. See Attaching Scanners to a Class for more information.
