Changing how Full Contact is started
Top  Previous  Next

Full Contact™ can be started in two different ways, and can automatically run in a kiosk mode (For more information on the different Kiosk modes that are available, please see Kiosk Modes).

Running Full Contact™ as a standalone program.

This is the default mode when Full Contact™ is initially installed. To start Full Contact™ when configured this way, simply click the Full Contact™ icon either in the task bar or in the start menu or double-click the icon on the desktop (depending on the options you chose when installing).

Registration for classes, scanning for sales and other scanner tasks will only work when you run the Full Contact™ program. This may suit the evening class Instructor who takes their laptop to class. They may not want the scanner process running in the background every time they start their PC as it's only relevant to classes in the evening..

Installation of automated startup is left to the end user as the mode of operation needs to be determined and then applied. Read on to discover how to set up auto-running and background operation.

Running Full Contact™ from the Startup Menu.

During installation, you have the option of installing Full Contact™ in the startup folder. This has the effect of running the Full Contact™ program every time you (or any other user) logs in.

This has the advantage of ensuring that whenever you start your machine and log in, you can immediately use the scanning capabilities of Full Contact™. It may also be convenient if you use the scanning for a large portion of the time, but occasionally wish to turn it off.
